“Your body is more imaginative about the future than you are. Consider how people train in weightlifting: the body overshoots in response to exposures and overprepares (upto the point of biological limit, of course). This is how bodies get stronger.”
Nassim Nicholas Taleb – Antifragile
How do you plan to get your body to “overprepare” this week? It doesn’t have to be a vomit inducing production either, just something to extend your comfort zone.
Can you:
– Go a bit further if you’re getting out for a walk?
– Do an extra couple of press ups (for example) if you’re doing a home workout?
– Push yourself just that bit harder if you’re doing a HIT workout?
– Lift slightly heavier weights?
– Decrease those rest periods?
We can keep going here but the point is that although exercise isn’t all about the pain, you will want to create some “over preparation” to get stronger/fitter/healthier.
But trust us, the payoff of better strength/energy/confidence/mobility is definitely worth it…
If you’re struggling with motivation/ways to create this stimulus with your home work outs, shoot us a message and we will be happy to go through ways in which we can help!
