I sometimes watch YouTube throughout the day. When I do, the algorithm does its thing and sends plenty of Man United content my way.
Two things I’ve observed watching it are:
1. The amount of content available now compared to back in the day is frightening. It used to be exciting getting to watch Match of the Day on a Saturday night. Now you can literally watch videos of training sessions being analysed!
2. Man United supporters are long suffering. Going onto youtube is literally like an avalanche of questions about what is going wrong and how can this be made better!?
Very similar to a lot of people starting out on getting into shape.
Huge amounts of analysis and information, a genuine desire to make things better but often the desired results just don’t happen.
I’d have no idea how to start fixing Man Utd, but when it comes to your health and fitness and getting the results you want, the best place to start is always at the basics.
Take weight loss. Can you go into a slight calorie deficit and get as much of your nutrition from unprocessed foods? Do this along with getting 3 workouts in a week, made up of strength and conditioning work and you’ll have a strong weight loss foundation.
Maybe you want to get stronger? Then progressively overload your muscles (eg. lift heavier weights/increase time under tension) in a structured program. While also making sure you’re enough quality calories on board, along with dialing in things like your sleep and stress management.
Want to be motivated and able to look after your health and fitness for the long term? Then figure out how having things like great energy, focus and ability to move can help improve your quality of life. Then enjoy the process, don’t take short cuts with things like your nutrition and warm ups and focus on consistency.
Do the above and you mightn’t cut through the obstacles to your goals like a striker destroying the Man Utd defence. But be consistent and you will hit your goals.
Far better than the long suffering guaranteed by starting and stopping your fitness regime and going through an avalanche of information looking for the quick fix…
