I was recently reminded of a schools match we were preparing for when doing the leaving cert and our headmaster got a few people in to talk to us about it.
One piece of advice given at the time was:
“Lads now could be the perfect time to do a bit of study. Even 15 minutes here and there can add up to a lot”.
Don’t know if we took the study advice on board, but we won the match!
During the week I was reading about the possibility of people setting themselves 5 minute fitness tasks throughout their day, and seeing how much they could get done with them.
And as I got thinking about it, I realised how helpful they could be to people either looking to get started with their fitness improvements or those looking to break through a plateau.
5 minutes isn’t a huge investment of time but picking something and committing to doing it can really help compound progress over time.
Wondering what you could do in 5 minutes?
You Could:
– Spend 5 minutes practicing box breathing to help manage your stress.
– If you’re in an office walk up and down the stairs for 5 minutes a couple of times a day.
– Skip for 5 minutes
– Prep some healthy snacks
– Do a Tabata (20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest for 4 minutes)
– 5 minutes stretching.
– See how many press ups you can do in 5 minutes (with good form!), then beat the number every time you do them again.
– Sit down and stand up for 5 minutes (lot harder than it sounds!)
I could go on with suggestions.
Point being, a lot of people will say they can’t get into shape because of a lack of time.
How about starting with even one of the above and building from there?
