Usually when I see a book with a smiley face written by someone like a Google executive I’ll pass up on it very quickly. However having come across a number of @mo_gawdat presentations online I knew he was the real deal and his book “Solve for happy” is one I’d defo recommend.

In one of his presentations he explains that there are only 2 things that we really have control over:
1. Our actions
2. Our reactions

This is so true when it comes to our health and fitness.

Without action, literally nothing will happen when it comes to getting fitter and healthier, no matter how many Instagram posts you read or YouTube videos you watch.

Creating an effective training and nutrition plan and sticking at it consistently, along with working on lifestyle factors is what will get you moving towards improved health and fitness.

When it comes to reactions, I’ve seen so many over the years – both good and bad.

But again it’s upto you to make sure that you’re reacting to your genetics/what others have said/a disappointing weigh in/an injury etc in a manner that will bring you forward. Not hold you back or make you regress when it comes to your health.

While controlling your fitness actions and reactions isn’t easy, the rewards are far greater than the effort involved.

The following passage from “Solve for happy”, gives a good insight into why you should:
“If you were allowed to own only one vehicle your entire life, you obviously would take care of it, keep it healthy, in perfect working condition, and you’d make sure it didn’t break or cause you troubles on your long journey. You would keep it looking clean and shiny and be grateful for the years of service and life long relationship it offered you.”
