I was listening to a podcast recently which mentioned Albert Einstein and how he was from Germany.

That caught my attention and made me think for a second;“If someone had asked me where Einstein was from, would I have known?”It’s nearly like because he is spoken about so much, you presume you know where he is from but it fades into the background.

If you get me.

Another interesting conversation I had this week was with one of our Fitness Society members. He mentioned about there being something like 60% of Irish adults being overweight or obese.

Again, this is something that I knew but it’s easy to forget about. Because it feels like it’s always there but has faded into the background. Being honest I would probably have said Austria.

Especially with the events of the last few years.

What’s that got to do with you, you might ask?

Even overlooking the physical and emotional negatives of falling into an overweight category, you’re missing out on a serious amount of positives if your health and fitness are below par.

Such as the improved energy, confidence, immune system and mental alertness that being fitter can bring.

If you’re thinking you’d like to get your fitness back on track but feel stuck in a rut there’s a lot you can do.

Start now and start small. We are approaching the end of the first 1/4 of 2022 and so many people will still be putting getting their fitness back on track off. Due to perfectionism. Instead of waiting for the perfect time, program and nutrition plan, start now and start with manageable steps, then build on them. Even starting on getting your hydration is going to help you move in the right direction.

Figure out the amount of time you can give towards getting into better shape and then plan the best use of it. As mentioned above, you don’t have to be setting aside huge chunks of time, sometimes starting small is the better option. Once you have figured out the time you have you can decide what the most effective use of it is. Then stick to the plan each week like any other important meeting you have.

Enjoy the process. This comes to both your nutrition and training. Find a place you enjoy working out in, with people you enjoy training with. Go for walks with friends, in places you like going to. Test new food recipes (send us a DM if you’d like a copy of our January cookbook) and remember that nutrition is for nourishment and enjoyment. Making sure you enjoy the process really is the only way to make it long term for you.
