“Ask better questions to get better answers” is great advice, which can help you as much with your fitness regime as anywhere else.
If you’re feeling a bit stuck with your fitness or are looking to get going with it, the following (in no particular order) are 18 questions you can ask to help you get going again…
1. Am I clear on how being fitter and healthier will benefit me?
2. Do my nutritional habits match my goals?
3. If my nutritional habits aren’t where they should be, what can I do today to start improving them?
4. Am I really putting my best effort into my workouts?
5. Do I have a realistic timeframe in place for the goals I want to achieve with the effort I’m willing to invest into them?
6. Do I look for excuses too often?
7. Do I make the best of the low hanging fruit available? Such as making sure I’m hydrated throughout the day.
8. What is my biggest obstacle to getting into great shape and how do I overcome it?
9. What are the triggers that usually throw me off track with my eating and how do I eliminate them?
10. Who can help me to progress?
11. Am I enjoying the process enough to see me doing it long term? If not, what can I change in it?
12. How can I maximise the time I have for exercise each week?
13. Am I working off a well thought out training plan or just winging it every time I go to the gym?
14. What is the minimum I can do on days that things like time and motivation might be at a premium?
15. Do I practice enough mindful eating (ie. Tv off, phone down and being present).
16. Do the foods I regularly eat bring me closer to or further away from where I want to be?
17. If I could only focus on one habit for the next month, what should it be?
18. Do I really need more info or do I just need to take some action?
